Lyric "Severe Austerities"

(David Munyon/S.P. Standley)

I was reading this book „The Bagavad Gita“ that some Devotees at the airport gave me. It said „To know The Lord, you must suffer severe austerities. I don't really know what that means. I know The Lord has been very, very good to me.

We have listened for the voices
that still makes so many ears
some have walked along the railroad tracks
sometimes for years and years
in the hearts of busted seekers
there's a flame that still grows old
chopping wood will save that flame
and turn a cold heart back to gold

we are rounding out the corners
and applying for our maps
we are ringing our bells louder
and becoming blue ourselves
we've been waiting for the wind, here
with haste to fill our sails
with a slight lean and a soul at peace

Severe Austerities

Take another stand for freedom
cause it sings good in a song
what we all take so for granted
men have died and men are gone
while they're missing there in action
hope they hear this melody
their firststep into battle
was enough to prove to me

we are rounding out the corners
and applying for our maps
we are ringing our bells louder
and becoming blue ourselves
we've been waiting for the wind, here
with haste to fill our sails
with a slight lean and a soul at peace

Severe Austerities

Take your shoes off if you want to
issue out the big stress tabs
we are doing just this day
we'll be baleing just this hay
while the evening sun is melting
with our spit-shined hearts in tune
we will sing of our redeemer
and let go of our ballons
we are rounding out the corners
and applying for our maps
we are ringing our bells louder
and becoming blue ourselves
we've been waiting for the wind, here
with haste to fill our sails
with a slight lean and a soul at peace
